Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)
The aim of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at Malla Reddy (MR) Deemed to be University is to promote entrepreneurship among youth and nurture a passion for self-employment. As entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as a vital driver of economic growth, this cell creates avenues for new knowledge-based innovative hi-tech ventures, industries, and technopreneurs — turning job seekers into job creators.
Recognizing the national importance of initiatives like "Make in India" and "Start-up India", the EDC strengthens entrepreneurial qualities in budding professionals. The University provides technical support, mentorship, and infrastructure to transform innovative ideas into scalable business ventures.

Objectives & Key Responsibilities

EDC Activities (2024 - 2025)
Invited Talk on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Start-ups”
Organized in association with MIC under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-4 Activity in the MBA Seminar Hall. Keynote speaker Dr. C. Sharmeela (Professor, Anna University) emphasized converting innovative ideas into market-ready products. Mr. M.U. Balaji explained Government startup funding schemes.
Session on Angel Investment / VC Funding Opportunity for Early Stage Entrepreneurs
Workshop delivered by Mr. Vijay Kiran Agastya (Founder and MD, MentorMe Career Intelligence). The speaker highlighted how angel investors assume calculated risk and support high-growth venture founders.
Innovations and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Advanced Battery Management for Electric Vehicles
Two-day technical workshop organized in association with MIC and Department of EEE. Speaker Dr. K. UdayKumar (Professor, Anna University) provided insights into EV battery management systems and clean-tech entrepreneurship.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STARTUPS AND BUSINESS (World Entrepreneurs Day)
The speaker of the event was Mr. M U Balaji, District coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Chengalpattu collector office Tamilnadu. The speaker emphasized on the various funding opportunities available in the Government to support a start-up. He motivated the students in turning their ideas to start-ups and also encouraged them by explaining about the Angel Investors and VC Funding.

Organized in association with MIC under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-1 Activity in the Mini Audit. The guest of honor for the program was Mr.Vijay Kiran Agatsya, Co-Founder & CEO, NextGen Learning & Consulting Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. The presidential address was given by Shri. K C Choudhury, I.E.D.S., Assistant Director (Grade 1) MSME-DFO, Hyderabad
Successful Journey of a women Entrepreneur on World Entrepreneur Day
Ms Sandhya Volety, Propreitor - Wonders-Interoir & Exterior has shared her experiences and challenges faced during her start-up journey. She also enlightened the students about how to register a company, the legal documents required for getting finance from a bank, the strategy to approach investors and making of pitch-deck presentation. After the invited talk, the students interacted with the resource person and got clarifications for their queries
Workshop on "Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity"
Mr.Tiger Dasu Padmanabha Rao, Career and Leadership Trainer, Hyderabad. The resource person emphasized on many factors significant to a student's career, some of which are as follows: 1. Career Awareness: Introduce students to the potential of entrepreneurship and innovation as career paths, showcasing opportunities beyond traditional employment. 2. Skill Enhancement: Equip students with foundational skills essential for entrepreneurship, such as problem-solving, creativity, adaptability, and effective communication.
Field/Exposure Visit to Incubation Unit/Patent Facilitation Centre/Technology Transfer Centre such as Atal Incubation Centre
Entrepreneurship development cell of MREC along with Innovation cell has organized a Field Visit to National Institute - Micro Small &Medium Enterprise (Ni-MSME) on 6th & 7th March 2024 under IIC 6.0 Calendar Quarter-3 Activity. Ni-MSME is an Organization of Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. It is a pioneer institute in the field of MSME and Entrepreneurship Development.
