Institution's Innovation Council (IIC)
About MIC (MoE's Innovation Cell)
In the year 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE's Innovation Cell (MIC) launched the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in education institutions.
In this regard, MREC established Institution's Innovation Council in the 2018-19 academic year. IICs' role is to engage a large number of faculty, students, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities such as ideation, problem-solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling, and management at Pre-incubation/Incubation stage.
The IIC model is unique and distinct as it integrates the functionalities of flexibility in calendar activities, a scoring and reward system, decentralizing operations with division of work, progress monitoring, and incentive mechanisms in a coordinated manner through a robust digital platform.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC)
Innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of economic growth and social progress. To facilitate grassroots innovation and student entrepreneurship within higher educational institutes across the state, Telangana Innovation Cell (TGIC), Govt. of Telangana launched the TGIC Host Institution Initiative.
Under this formal partnership signed on 30-04-2025 between TGIC and Malla Reddy (MR) Deemed to be University, the institute is recognized as an official 'TGIC Host Institution'. The initiative provides strategic advice, training programs, industry-alumni networking, and curated mentor access to empower the local innovation ecosystem.

Training Programme on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Civil Engineers”
Organized by the Civil Engineering Department in association with IIC MREC. Speaker Mr. Prashanth Kumar Sreram (Assistant Professor, NICMAR University) motivated students on business opportunities in blocks manufacturing, construction equipment rental, and lawn care services. Attended by 06 faculty and 57 UG students.

Invited Talk on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme”
Organized in association with CITD-MSME Tool Room, Hyderabad under IIC 7.0 Quarter-2 Self Driven Activity. Keynote speaker Mr. M. V. Sudhir Kumar (Rtd. Assistant Director-IEDS, MSME) educated over 150 students and faculty on government funding, skill development, and exit-route legislation.
